The Story That Inspired Our Mission
When Kobe was diagnosed with cancer at 12 years old, his world changed overnight. Facing a long battle with a brain tumor, endless hospital stays, and moments of isolation, he found hope and companionship in an unexpected place—his dog, Dolly. The unconditional love and support his furry friend provided became a lifeline in his healing journey.
During Kobe’s time spent in the hospital, he met the young boy next door, who quickly grew to love Dolly. Over time, he expressed his wish for a companion of his own. Seeing his need for the love and connection that Dolly had been able to provide for Kobe, we wanted to make it happen. We found a way to get him a dog! And in that moment, we saw firsthand the profound difference an emotional support animal can make in a child’s fight against cancer.
That moment sparked something bigger. Now, our organization is committed to giving as many children as possible the same chance to experience the love and companionship of a dog.
How We Make a Difference
🐶 We raise funds to match children battling cancer with loving support dogs.
🏥 We partner with families to ensure every dog is the right fit for the child’s needs.
💙 We provide ongoing support to help families and their new companions thrive together.
Help Us Give More Children a Best Friend for Life
Every donation helps us place a dog in the arms of a child who needs love, comfort, and companionship during their hardest days. Join us in making a difference, one wagging tail at a time.
Healing can take a lot of different forms, including one with a tail.
AT Kobe’s K9s, we know healing goes beyond medicine. That’s why we pair children battling cancer with highly trained service dogs, offering them companionship, comfort and a sense of purpose.
What is vital companionship?
It is more than just having a pet – it’s a deep, mutual connection where both the child and the dog find comfort, purpose, and resilience together. This bond helps kids focus on something beyond their treatment, offering them strength and encouragement in their journey.
How we are different
We’ve lived it. We understand firsthand the joy and relief a trained dog can bring to a child in treatment.
We’re personal. We work one-on-one with families, building lasting relationships.
We’re hands-on. We stay connected throughout the journey, ensuring the best possible match and ongoing support.
Every match we make is a promise–to the child, to the dog, and to the family.
Join us in a promise of love, hope, and healing.
